Your dock, your client's return address

Parcels leave your warehouse. The USPS label shows the brand your client's customer bought from, with the client's order number in the corner.

How a warehouse runs it today

  1. One wallet funds the dockTop up once. Every label your team or your WMS buys comes out of it, with the postage and our fee on each line.
  2. Each order carries the client's return addressSend your dock as address_from and the client's returns address as address_return. On USPS labels the sender block prints the client's address; your dock's does not appear.
  3. The client's order number prints on the labelSend a reference and the first 30 characters print bottom right on USPS labels, so packers and returns staff can match parcel to client.
  4. Bill clients from your label historyEvery shipment keeps its reference, so you can total each client's postage and fees from your label list or the API.

Today, and with per-client accounts

ShipYesterday can run a separate account for each of your clients. That needs an approval we have not applied for yet, so nothing listed under per-client accounts works today.

The return address has to be real

USPS requires a legible domestic return address on Ground Advantage, Priority Mail and other services. Undeliverable parcels go back to it, so it must be a place your client actually receives returns.

Your dock's address still goes with the shipment data when we buy the label, and the carrier can receive it. Printing a different return address changes what the label shows, not what the carrier knows.
